Family Unification Program for Youths Aging Out of Foster Care (FUPY)

The Family Unification Program for Youths Aging Out of Foster Care (FUPY) is a HUD demonstration program whose purpose is to increase opportunities for housing youth with support to achieve self-sufficiency. FUPY is the only housing program explicitly targeted to youth aging out of foster care. The Children and Families Division of Child Protection and Permanency and the Lakewood Housing Authority work together to provide rental assistance and supportive services for the ten (10) FUPY participants. The youths are encouraged to participate with the Family Self Sufficiency Program which can provide them with more resources and opportunities.

As of 2018 The Lakewood Housing Authority is the only agency in New Jersey that is administering this demonstration program.
